Frequently asked questions

How much do I need to pay to bond out my friend/family?

The premium you pay is only:

  • Federal 15% of the total bond amount
  • State 10% of the total bond amount

Please note that there is a $100 minimum for bonds less than $1,000

Why do I need collateral?

  • Should the defendant (your friend/relative) fail to appear in court, the total amount of the bond is paid using the collateral that was presented. All collateral will be sold to cover costs.

Ex: The Bail Bond is $30,000; your premium is $3,000 and collateral will be collected to cover up to $30,000. Collateral can be a car, house, Jet Ski, jewelry, etc.

Does the premium get refunded at the end of the case?

No, the premium is non-refundable

Do I have to pay the total bond amount if my friend/family is found guilty?

· No, as long as your friend/family does not fail to appear for sentencing, or any required court appearances, and fulfills the court's orders, you do not have to pay the total amount. Only amount due would be the initial premium and any collateral will be returned.

What is an indemnitor?

· An indemnitor is the person that signs for the defendant (friend/relative) and is responsible for payment of premium and total bond, should the defendant fail to appear in court.
